Esther Duflo shares 2019 medal for experimental approach on poverty

A French-American economist has been awarded one third of this year’s Nobel prize in economics for her work on alleviating global poverty.

Esther Duflo, of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, became the youngest researcher ever and only the second woman to take home this prize, 50 years after it was established in 1968.
