Senate science committee aims to cement US leadership in AI

Bill introduced to create AI Safety Institute and set up innovation challenge prizes

Bipartisan legislation has been introduced in the Senate with the aim of further securing US leadership in artificial intelligence innovation.

Maria Cantwell, Democratic chair of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, together with three fellow senators including two Republicans, introduced the Future of AI Innovation Act on 18 April.
