The Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) has jointly launched an open access journal for biomedical and life sciences research, with the Max Planck Society in Germany and the Wellcome Trust in the UK.
The new online journal, yet to be named, was announced on 27 June. Its first issue is expected in summer 2012.
