Florida public colleges could charge less for STEM degrees

A task force commissioned by Florida Governor Rick Scott has recommended that students at Florida’s 12 public state universities pursuing degrees in areas of high demand, like science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), should pay less for tuition.

The controversial proposal, contained in a final report released in November, could be taken up by the governor when he rolls out his higher education platform later this year. The state House and Senate might also take action on the recommendation.
