Grant Smith, a materials science and engineering professor at the University of Utah, has resigned from the institution after being arrested in November for allegedly possessing and viewing child pornography on an aircraft.
University spokesman Remi Barron said Smith stepped down in December and cooperated in switching his research grants to others at the university before his departure.
