Caltech president to lead S&T university in Saudi Arabia

The president of the California Institute of Technology, Jean-Lou Chamea, will step down later this year to become the president of Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia, he announced on 19 February.

In a memo to staff, Chamea said KAUST’s unique location and its charter as an “international and diverse center of learning and research”, positions the university to have “a dramatic impact” on Saudi Arabia, the Middle East and the world.
