Pharmaceutical firm Eli Lilly and Purdue University, based in West Lafayette, Indiana, have announced a five-year, $52-million partnership.
Under the deal, announced by Purdue on 6 July, Lilly will fund university researchers to develop new pain medications and explore strategies for better predicting when a drug candidate will become a successful product.
The partnership may expand to other areas in the future, according to a press release. Arrangements on patents or other intellectual property resulting from the work have not so far been made public.
