Pharma foundation funds 10 posts in Indiana

A $25-million grant from the Lilly Foundation will pay for 10 new bioscience professors at Indiana University.

The university hopes that the grant will help raise its stature in the bioscience world. It will fund collaboration between the institution’s medical school and outside organizations, including pharmaceuticals manufacturer Eli Lilly, the chemical maker Dow, two hospital systems and other universities in Indiana, the university said in a statement on 12 July.

The Lilly Foundation is a philanthropic organization founded by Eli Lilly. The two are separate entities, although the foundation is partly funded by the drug company’s stocks.
