Universities and lawmakers are questioning an FBI decision to disband a high-level forum of higher-education leaders and security agencies.
In a letter to FBI director Christopher Wray, the American Council on Education has asked why the National Security Higher Education Advisory Board has been closed. The council, which is an umbrella organisation of higher-education groups, has asked the bureau for a meeting to explain the decision, which has yet to be announced by the FBI.
In a separate letter, the House of Representatives Committee on Science, Space and Technology has also asked the FBI why the advisory board had been closed.
