Policymakers at AAAS annual meeting promise a ‘balanced’ approach that protects openness

The US government is helping the Federal Bureau of Investigation to take on more scrutiny of researchers’ foreign links, saying that research institutions lack capacity.

The director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, Kelvin Droegemeier, told Research Professional News that the United States has to have a “balance of openness and collaboration, but also protecting our assets”.
