US academics strike against racism in science

Anti-racist campaign comes as figures show slow progress in increasing numbers of black STEM graduates

Academics across the United States called a one-day strike on 10 June to fight against racism in academia and science more generally.

Uniting under the slogans ‘Shut Down Academia’ and ‘Shut Down STEM’, the campaign was joined by researchers across the globe, calling for black academics to use the day to prioritise their needs, and for non-black colleagues to oppose anti-black racism.
