American Association of University Professors says survey reveals ‘appalling’ pay for part-time faculty

US faculty’s purchasing power has taken a severe hit in the past year, according to the latest annual wage survey from the American Association of University Professors.

When adjusted for inflation, real wages for full-time faculty members decreased by five per cent in 2021-22 compared with the previous year—the largest one-year drop on record since the AAUP began tracking the measure in 1972.
