US universities concerned over push to declare all foreign gifts

Senate push could discourage beneficial international collaboration, Association of American Universities warns

The mooted introduction of a mandate for researchers to declare all foreign gifts has sparked concern among US research institutions.

On 15 June, the Association of American Universities wrote to the members of the House and Senate, who are negotiating the reconciliation of two bipartisan innovation bills, urging them to drop the provision as written in the Senate’s US Innovation and Competition Act.
