US updates rules on sexual discrimination in education

Sector leader welcomes flexibility of update but warns that meeting implementation deadline will be tricky

The US Department of Education has released an update to rules on actions that federally funded education institutions including universities must take to prevent and respond to sexual discrimination.

“The final regulations promote educational equity and opportunity for students across the country as well as accountability and fairness, while empowering and supporting students and families,” the department said on 19 April.
