Controversy over Obama NOAA relocation plan

President Obama’s plan to relocate the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) from the Commerce Department to the Interior Department is proving controversial.

Opponents argue that the agency’s scientific independence, and its expertise and data-driven decisions that help shed light on the changing atmosphere, could be compromised by this reorganisation.
