PCAST urges Congress to own Obama’s R&D goal

The President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) is urging congressional authorisation committees to “take ownership” of the goal that President Obama has set for the nation’s total R&D expenditures to achieve and sustain a level of 3 per cent of gross domestic product.

A PCAST report on 30 November also said the executive branch and Congress should work together to establish policies to enhance private industry’s major share of that investment.
