The White House has published a second installment of its policy on dual use research of concern (DURC)—defined as life sciences research that could be potentially misused in a way that threatens public health, safety or national security.
The policy, published on 22 February, focuses on 15 select agents and toxins and seven categories of studies. It applies to federal agencies, all institutions that receive federal funding, and all institutions conducting research meeting the definition of DURC, regardless of funding source.
