President Donald Trump has brought the National Space Council back into operation after two decades.
At a White House ceremony attended by former NASA astronaut Buzz Aldrin, on 30 June, Trump signed an executive order that re-established the space council. Reviving the council was one of Trump’s campaign promises, and the pledge was repeated by vice-president Mike Pence after taking office.
“With the actions we are launching today, America will think big once again. Important words: Think big. We haven’t been thinking so big for a long time, but we’re thinking big again as a country,” Trump said.
