President Donald Trump has unveiled a drug-pricing blueprint that he claims will increase industry competition while reducing the sky-high costs of medicines.
In a speech delivered in the White House Rose Garden on 11 May, Trump unveiled a list of 50 actions that he said would reduce the prices Americans pay for medicines.
The measures include: requiring pharmaceutical companies to disclose prices in their advertising; offering free generics to low-income seniors; and passing on to consumers more of the savings when insurers negotiate bulk-buy discounts from drug companies.
