Scientists challenge proposed head of climate review

Researchers have spoken out against reported plans to appoint a “climate denier” as chairman of a government committee being set up to assess the threats from environmental change.

According to the Union of Concerned Scientists, potential committee leader William Happer is “a climate denier with a longstanding history of ignoring scientific facts”.

Happer (above) is a professor emeritus at Princeton University, specialising in nuclear physics.
