Proposal launches process for agreeing next budget, as 2024 NSF deal is finally signed off

US president Joe Biden is seeking to increase public investment in research with his 2025 federal budget proposal, although he will struggle to succeed against a frugally minded Republican-controlled House of Representatives.

Biden presented his 2025 federal budget proposal on 11 March, with the White House describing it as his “vision to protect and build on his administration’s progress”.
