Mental illness funding ‘breaks new ground’

Grand Challenges Canada, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving health in developing countries, has announced that it will dedicate CAD$20 million to research projects on mental illnesses in developing countries.

The funding is intended for “bold, transformational proposals” from social, scientific and business researchers with the aim of significantly improving treatment and access to care for patients with mental disorders in low- and middle-income countries.
