Gates TB grants ‘will benefit African science’

A research drive to identify biological markers to help tuberculosis in low-resource settings has been funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to the tune of US$7.7 million.

The funding, announced on 9 February, will give grants to 10 institutions researching biomarkers for TB, which kills 1.7 million people each year.
