Single science council proposed to steer South Africa’s research agenda

South Africa’s government has been advised by an expert committee to set up a national council to steer its research agenda and make recommendations on all major funding allocations to science and innovation.

The council, which would have 15 to 20 members, would be chaired by the country’s deputy president, with the science minister acting as deputy chair.
