German and Canadian partners to work on renewable energy technology

The University of British Columbia (UBC) in Canada and three Fraunhofer institutes in Germany have agreed to work together on developing technology for sustainable energy production.

The partnership, announced on 15 January, has secured €4 million in funding. It will focus on developing hydrogen fuel cells for storing energy generated by wind and solar power plants, but will also investigate other topics related to alternative energy generation.
