Industry to help India spend 2% of GDP on research
India’s government has released a science, technology and innovation policy that aims to increase research spending from 1 to 2 per cent of GDP through increased support from industry. Prime minister Manmohan Singh said the government aspires to get India into the top five global scientific nations by 2020. The policy pushes for more applied R&D, with commercial and societal impacts.
