UN appoints advisory group to develop tech transfer bank

The UN has picked a 10-strong panel to lead the development of its Technology Bank, intended to improve technology transfer in developing countries.

The bank, proposed in July, will include provisions to develop the scientific capacity of developing countries and help nations to access intellectual-property rights. Its development will be led by Romain Murenzi, the executive director of the World Academy of Sciences, the UN announced on 26 November.

The other nine panel members represent science academies, legal organisations and academia in different countries.
