The World Health Organization has signed an agreement with the University of Washington in the United States to improve the collection and use of data on global health.
In an announcement on 6 May, the WHO said the initiative with the university’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation would help to increase the transparency and accessibility of health estimates for both policymakers and researchers—and identify gaps in data collection and research.
“Accurate health statistics are the foundation of a good health system,” said Marie-Paule Kieny, the assistant director-general for health systems and innovation at the WHO.
