Director sought for risk-research programme

The UN-backed Integrated Research on Disaster Risk programme, which has its headquarters in Beijing, is recruiting for an executive director.

A statement on 5 February said that the role would be vacant from 1 June 2016. Applicants must have a PhD in a science related to natural hazards and disaster risk reduction, good written and spoken English and a working knowledge of Mandarin.

The international, multidisciplinary programme aims to characterise natural and man-made environmental risk, understand decision-making relating to disaster management, and reduce risks using the natural, social and medical sciences and engineering.
