Tedros seeks to persuade America not to pull back from WHO

The director-general-elect of the World Health Organization is touring the United States to share his outlook with funders and policymakers before taking up his post.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, a former Ethiopian health minister, is travelling in the US between 12 and 17 June. He is set to become WHO director-general on 1 July.

During his trip, Tedros—who goes by his first name—is scheduled to meet with Bill Gates, Microsoft founder and philanthropist; Jim Yong Kim, the World Bank group’s president; and Anthony Lake, director of Unicef, the UN children’s fund.
