Just 34 per cent of universities have adopted sustainable development plans, a survey by International Association of Universities has found.
A further 38 per cent of universities said they were developing such plans, but only 45 per cent said they had adopted an institution-wide approach. The findings were published in an IAU report on 1 September.
A total of 120 universities from all continents took part in the survey, but as many as 44 skipped questions on implementing sustainable development strategies.
