Research ‘vital’ to stemming further spread
The World Health Organization is convening a meeting to decide whether an international emergency should be declared as part of efforts to halt the spread of a deadly virus that emerged in China late last year.
Researchers around the world are working to better understand the novel pathogen, labelled 2019-nCoV, which has spread from Wuhan city in China to Japan, Korea and Thailand. Six deaths and nearly 300 confirmed cases have been reported to the WHO.
