As death toll rises, universities face huge financial losses from travel bans

Universities around the world are scrambling to deal with the worsening coronavirus outbreak, as they face millions of dollars in losses from the growing number of international travel bans.

As the global death toll mounts and travel is increasingly restricted, senior staff are urgently putting plans in place to try to protect the health of staff and students. Institutions also face losing hundreds of millions of dollars in fees as international students cannot travel to take up places.
