Heart research funders join forces to tackle biggest killer

Global forum promises “clear international agenda” for cardiovascular science and joint funding for clinical trials

Some of the world’s biggest funders of cardiovascular research have launched an international forum to coordinate their priorities and clinical trials on the single biggest cause of death globally.

The 11 organisations backing the Global Cardiovascular Research Funders Forum include the American Heart Association, the German Centre for Cardiovascular Research and the British Heart Foundation. They are collectively responsible for more than $600 million in research funding every year.
