Ukraine official alleges delay was politically motivated

Russia and China forced the postponement of a decision on increasing Canada’s influence in Antarctic affairs including research, an official at Ukraine’s state-run Antarctic programme has alleged.

Andrii Fedchuk, head of the Ukraine National Antarctic Scientific Center’s International Scientific and Technical Cooperation Department, told Research Professional News that the countries made the move to lend their weight to similar influence being given to Belarus.
