Ahead of the UN climate talks in Durban, South Africa, the Brazilian government called on developed nations to renew their commitment to cut carbon emissions under the Kyoto protocol.
On 28 November, the foreign minister, Antonio Patriota said, “At the centre of all is the second period of commitments under the Kyoto protocol. The protocol is an essential tool in the fight against climate change and its extension is necessary to maintain a high level of ambition,” he added.
