$11m for indigenous Amazon projects

The Amazon Fund managed by Brazil’s state-owned development bank (BNDES) will commit $11 million to fund innovative projects relating to Brazil's indigenous peoples, it was announced on 7 July.

The money will be used to set up the Kayapo Fund, a long-term operational and financial mechanism intended to support indigenous organisations’ projects focusing on environmental research and monitoring, as well as fostering sustainable production and environmental management in indigenous regions.
