Chile and Brazil to collaborate on Antarctic research

Chile and Brazil are to develop joint research activities in the Antarctic, after an agreement was signed last week by the two countries’ presidents.

The countries also agreed, through a memorandum of understanding between their ministries of education, to provide opportunities for academic exchange in graduate, professional and higher education. They plan to encourage students to learn both Spanish and Portuguese. Additional collaborative programmes for teacher training and scientific research are also under consideration.
