Chile lures 19 researchers home

Chile’s national commission on scientific research and technology has announced funding for 19 projects from its advanced human capital attraction and integration programme.

The programme encourages researchers who are Chilean citizens or permanent residents who have been awarded a doctorate abroad to return to Chile. It provides 1.6 million Chilean pesos (€2,600) to the researchers monthly, plus research funds of up to 20m Chilean pesos (€32,000) yearly as well as health benefits and administrative expenses. Researchers working outside metropolitan areas receive an additional monthly stipend.
