Costa Rica targets science and technology training and innovation

Costa Rica has taken out a $35 million (€27m) loan to train its scientists, attract foreign talent to the country and support innovation, SciDev.Net has reported.

The loan is from the Inter-American Development Bank, based in Washington, DC, which supports development programmes in Latin America and the Caribbean.

A total of $25m is to be used for education and training, the article says. This will support 161 graduate fellowships in various areas of science and technology, along with a programme for training people who are already working in the country.
