Canada’s space agency boss to take ministerial role

Prime minister Stephen Harper has announced that Walter Natynczyk, president of the Canadian Space Agency, is being transferred to become deputy minister of veterans affairs.

“It has been an honour to serve as president of the Canadian Space Agency. The agency has extraordinary potential and an exciting destiny,” said Natynczyk, a retired general. “I believe in its employees. I believe in its mission. Space touches every Canadian, every day of their lives. No matter where I am, I will continue to support Canada’s space programme.”

The move was announced on 29 October. There has been no announcement of a successor for Natynczyk at the CSA.
