Colleges win funding for innovation projects

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada has awarded $34 million to colleges nationwide to support applied research projects with industry.

The 38 winning projects at colleges of further education, announced on 8 April, focus on areas including manufacturing, green buildings and mobile technology. The funding is provided through the council’s College and Community Innovation Program.

Several colleges also won nearly 7 million Canadian dollars between them from the Canada Foundation for Innovation’s College Industry Innovation Fund, to purchase specialised research equipment.
