Clinical trials database launched

A group including the Canadian Institutes of Health Research has launched a Canadian Clinical Trials Asset Map, a database of clinical research capabilities.

The database, unveiled on 4 June, provides details of clinical trial sites, research networks, research ethics boards, institutions and hospitals, and individual clinical research experts. It is intended both as a marketing tool for Canada’s clinical research and as a way to speed up trials by making it easier to find the right people and institutions.

The map will be overseen by the Canadian Clinical Trials Coordinating Centre, a partnership between the CIHR, Canada’s Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies and HealthCareCAN, which represents healthcare organisations across the country.
