The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada and the innovation training organisation Mitacs have agreed to collaborate on common areas of work.
The deal will involve Mitacs’s Accelerate, Elevate, Globalink and Step programmes, and NSERC’s Engage Grants, Collaborative R&D Grants and Collaborative Research and Training Experience programme. The increased coordination will make it easier for companies to develop research and training plans for young researchers.
“What we are building is a one-stop shop where companies and researchers can quickly and efficiently find what they are looking for. Working in collaboration will allow us to promote our shared goal of support for talented people behind the research, which will bring new ideas, novel solutions and innovative technologies to Canadians,” said Mario Pinto, the president of NSERC.
