Agri research grows in the prairies

Agricultural research in Manitoba and Saskatchewan has received a boost, as the two provinces and the federal government put money into R&D on farms and at local universities.

In Manitoba, the provincial and federal governments launched the Growing Innovation initiative, to fund research, development and evaluation projects of new agricultural technologies on farms.

In Saskatchewan the state and federal government announced $17 million in renewed funding for 13 strategic research chairs in agriculture, including a new forage research chair.
