New Brunswick sets university funding for two years

Universities in New Brunswick know exactly how much money they will be getting from the state in the next two years.

The provincial government announced that universities will receive a 2 per cent increase in their operating budgets in each of the next two years on 30 October, the first time a funding agreement has been announced ahead of the yearly provincial budget. The government also set an annual tuition fee increase cap of no more than 3 per cent for the next three years for all public universities.

“Our government is providing predictable increases in and substantial investments to the university operating budgets, while at the same time asking universities to continue their efforts to keep costs down for our students,” said post-secondary education minister Jody Carr.
