Calgary to expand engineering school with provincial cash

The University of Calgary is launching a major expansion of its Schulich School of Engineering with a $142 million investment from the province of Alberta.

“The expanded and renovated Schulich School of Engineering will provide advanced lab spaces to support research, new theatres for teaching, and open spaces for collaborative work,” said Thomas Lukaszuk, deputy premier and minister of enterprise and advanced education. “The student experience will be enriched by this new hub,” he said.

The expansion means the university will be able to take on an additional 400 undergraduate and graduate engineering students, in addition to the 4,200 at the school.
