Conflict hampering research collaboration, conference told

South Asian collaboration in sustainable development research is being held back by internal and trans-boundary conflicts, a conference in Islamabad has heard.

Speaking at the Sustainable Development Conference in December, Abid Qaiyum Suleri, executive director of the Pakistan-based Sustainable Development Policy Institute, said poor collaboration among policymakers and scientists, coupled with insufficient technological advancement in South Asia, remain major stumbling blocks to fighting socio-economic problems.
