Staff and public ‘at risk’ from biohazard breaches

Breaches of standard safety protocols by hospital and diagnostic laboratory staff in Pakistan are risking their own health and that of members of the public, according to a survey reported by the Dawn.com news service.

An investigation into the procedures for handling medical waste at 353 public and private sector clinics and laboratories in the Karachi area was carried out through collaboration between the Jinnah University of Women, the United States Bio-Safety Engagement Programme and the Bio-Safety Association of Pakistan.
