South Korea joins the Arctic drive

South Korea president Lee Myung-bak’s recent visit to Greenland and Norway is another sign of the country’s interest in increasing its presence in the race to develop Arctic natural resources.

The president signed a memorandum of understanding with Greenland’s prime minister, Kuupik Kleist, on 9 September for collaboration on geological and scientific research and development of mineral resources.
